Italy, much like Germany, would seek to conquer her neighbors to carve out a new empire and age for her people. Mussolini called it "Spazio Vitale" which mirrored Germany's Labensraum. Italy would attempt to mirror Germany's Blitzkrieg in Greece but would ultimately fall short, resorting to depending on German reinforcements to finally capitulate the Greeks. The Alpini were the special mountain infantry that would see combat across all fronts in WWII. France, Russia, Africa, Greece, Albania, and Yugoslavia would see deployments of Italian Alpini troops. Their combat effectiveness varied depending on the leadership of the unit, but under competent leadership, would excel in combat, and were known to be brave and dedicated soldiers
Equipment Details
This Italian soldier is equipped with a sand green leather belt with a M30 Breda machine gun pouch, and a holster for a Beretta Modello 1934 pistol. On his back, he carries a T.35 gas mask bag and Alpini Canteen. He wears the M40 Italian uniform and trousers with his Alpine unit insignia on the collar. On his arm, he wears two red chevrons, indicating Corporal.
